Shyfter vs Shiftbase: which scheduling software for teams in Belgium?
In brief: Shiftbase and Shyfter both cover staff scheduling, time tracking and leave. Shiftbase, a Dutch vendor, is cheaper for a small team (free for up to 15 employees). Shyfter, a Belgian vendor, is built for Belgian rules: automatic Dimona from the schedule, daily Dimona under joint committee 302, flexi-jobs and students, and links with most Belgian social secretariats. If you employ students, flexi-jobbers or extras in Belgium, that is the criterion that should decide.
You run a restaurant, a hotel or a shop in Belgium and you are choosing between Shiftbase and Shyfter. Both promise a schedule in a few clicks and a time clock on a smartphone. On paper they look alike. The difference shows the day a flexi-jobber replaces a sick colleague and you have to file their Dimona before they start.

What both tools do equally well
Both build a schedule per team and department, send shifts to employees’ phones, handle leave requests and compare planned hours with clocked hours. Both have an iPhone and Android app. If that is all you need, price and ease of use will decide: run a demo of both with your real typical week.
Where the difference lies in Belgium
Dimona. A missing or late Dimona can mean a penalty and a manual correction. The Shiftbase website does not mention it. In Shyfter, the Dimona is created when you publish the shift or sign the contract, and the daily Dimona (ASA) is available for joint committee 302, the hospitality one.
Flexi-jobs, students and extras. In hospitality and retail, a large share of hours is worked by flexi-jobbers, students or extras, each with their own rules and caps. Shyfter manages them in the same schedule as permanent staff, with their Dimona. Shiftbase does not mention these statuses on its public pages.
Social secretariat. Shiftbase lists one Belgian social secretariat, SD Worx, with a CSV export. Shyfter connects with most Belgian social secretariats. See payroll preparation.
When to choose Shiftbase
Shiftbase is a good choice if your team has fewer than 15 people, you run a single site and all your staff are on permanent contracts. Its free plan lets you start without a budget. It is also the logical choice if your business is mainly in the Netherlands.
When to choose Shyfter
Shyfter is made for you if you employ students, flexi-jobbers or extras in Belgium, if you fall under joint committee 302, or if your social secretariat is not SD Worx. Staff scheduling and the time clock are included from the Basic plan.
Switching without breaking this month’s payroll
